- Nashua River Rail Trail
The Nashua River Rail Trail is a former railroad right of way that travels 11 miles through the towns of Ayer, Groton, Pepperell and Dunstable. The trail offers a 10-foot wide paved surface for the entire length, and a five-foot wide gravel equestrian path for seven miles of the trail from Groton Center to the New Hampshire boarder in Dunstable. - Minuteman Bikeway
Runs through the towns of Arlington, Lexington and Bedford. 11 mile rail trail open for biking, in-line skating, walking, jogging and cross-country skiing. There are also 3.2 miles of trails at Fruitlands Museum. Fee for trails only is $5. Trails are free for Harvard residents during the summer of 2007; go to reception first for a ticket.
- Bare Hill Pond, Pond Rd., Harvard. Beach stickers required for parking. The cost is $40 for the season. They only accept checks; checks should be made out to "Town of Harvard". Swimming Lessons run June 25-July 21 and July 30-Aug 17. Sign up online at Harvard Park & Rec.
- Mirror Lake, Devens. Open late June through Labor Day, lifeguards on duty. Beach, swimming lessons, concession stand. Fee for entry is $3/adult and $2/child during the week; $5/adult and $3/child on the weekends, discounted passes available. For more information, see the Mirror Lake website.
